KLAS TV Green Room Sponsored by Convicted Felon Shafik Hirji, Straw Owner of Furniture Fashions Stores

I’m amazed. How can Shafik Hirji, the subject of several News Channel 8 I-Team investigations at KLAS TV, become the sponsor of a Green Room at the station?

KLAS TV Account Executive Joe Pedri and Shafik Hirji Have Bankruptcy Issues in Common

A closer look at backgrounds between these two individuals show that the operator of multiple straw businesses and convicted felon, Shafik Hirji, and KLAS TV advertising sales account executive Joe Pedri both share having to have dealt with bankruptcies in their past.

Both were involved in Chapter 7 bankruptcies — Shafik Hirji in California and Joe Pedri in Nevada.

In fact, Shafik Hirji also was convicted of fraud related to a bankruptcy case, which is a felony conviction. See my post on this at shafikhirji.com.

And then there’s my favorite — check out this line item on Joe Pedri’s bankruptcy filing regarding Victoria’s Secret, who was stiffed for $173.00:

I’ll say it again, “Say it ain’t so, Joe!”

KLAS TV – Advertising Dollars vs. Credibility?

I was totally shocked and bewildered by the behavior of Joe Pedri and the way KLAS TV responds to people offering them money rather than checking their credibility after a series of I-Team reports had been done.

A simple Google search on “Shafik Hirji” will bring up just what I found. Obviously, KLAS TV has no concern about taking advertising dollars from anyone walking in off the street. Forget about parent company Nexstar’s Code of Business Conduct and it’s outline of ethical practices.

KLAS TV Lisa Howfield, Vice President and General Manager of the Station, Has Never Responded to My Email,
Which Speaks Volumes

Lisa Howfield’s official title at KLAS TV is Vice President and General Manager.

I emailed a letter to her, outlining the various points I’m making on this website. Here’s a copy of the contents of it (click on the image to enlarge):

To date, I’ve had no response from her or anyone else.

I wrote about the role that KLAS TV had in propping up convicted felon Shafik Hirji with the appearance of him being a legitimate businessman through his sponsorship of the Green Room at KLAS TV’s “Las Vegas Now” show as well as how he was treated generally at KLAS when he took me there to visit. He also was given the royal treatment by one of his primary contacts at KLAS TV, account executive Joe Pedri.

Lisa Howfield’s silence in this matter is in direct opposition to the Code of Business Conduct that parent company, Nexstar, has outlined. It says the following:

“Company managers are expected to lead according to our standards of ethical conduct, in both words and actions. Managers are responsible for promoting open and honest two-way communications.”

So much for the open and honest two-way communication. It’s been more than a week since I sent that letter and still no response.
